Final Part 1

                       Class/Self Evaluation

What I liked abou this class is that we never got any homework and we were able to be creative on our portfolios. I didn't like having to work on typing tutor, it was really boring. I didn't like the fact that we couldn't play typing games. But I did like the CTR card checks because it was exciting knowing who was going to get picked. Some suggestions for the class is that we should be able to play typing games and to write about different things other than quotes and job descriptions. For example, I think we should write more about ourselves or about something or someone we really like/admire. We would all be able to get to know each other more. I didn't always do my best but most of the time I did and I will continue to do my best. I want to pass this class with an A as awell as with my other classes. I am committed to being a CTR person because I want to live happily without any stress or worries. If I chose not be CTR person and always do what's wrong, I would be living a life with so many problems, stress, and worries. Since, I don't want to live a life like that, I'm choosing to always do the right thing.

IDP Showcase

                                           IDP Showcase

My topic for the IDP Project was lung cancer. My part in the presentation was to research about the community resources of lung cancer and ways to prevent it and put it on the keynote. My team members were: Henry, Priscila, and Carlos. I wasn't that nervous about presenting because during the summer bridge program, we had a similar project like the IDP that we also had to present, so I kind of knew what to expect. I've also been presenting many times since 6th grade so it's something that I'm used to. I knew what I was going to say so I wasn't really worried about that. But when I present, my legs start shaking as well as my voice which is something that I hate because I can't control it. But other than that, the presentation went well. This project helped me get used to presenting a second IDP Project and learn more about lung cancer. I learned that there's two types of it and that the #1 cause of it is smoking. I also learned that men smoked more than women back in 2010 so they got lung cancer more than men but now women are smoking more so they're the ones getting more lung cancer than men.

"Always do right"

                          "Always do right"
                            By: Mark Twain

This quote means you always need to do the right thing no matter what others think. You should never make decisions based on what people might think of you. If you know it's the right thing to do, then do it. Doing the right thing, will make your life happier and much more relaxing and stress-free compared to someone who always does the wrong thing. For example, if you have finals the next day and decide to spend them by studying by yourself and doing homework you'll more than likely do well on your finals. But if you decide to party and drink, you'll wake up with headaches and throwing up all the time. You didn't study or do your homework so you'll most likely fail or not pass the finals. So now you'll have to worry about retaking it or making up for it. Maybe you won't even be able to do either of those so you'll have to stay with that low grade. If you always do what's wrong, you'll be bringing so many negative copnseuqences, worries, and stress to your life. Your decisions affect your life a lot so it's better to do the right thing and live a life without stress or worries.

"It's better to be alone than to be in bad company."

"It's better to be alone than to be in bad company."
                           By: Anonymous

This quote means that it's better to be alone than to be with bad company. It's better to be by yourself studying, watching TV, or doing your homework than being with people who only party, drink and smoke. They might be laughing and having a good time but that's only going to last time for a short while. After that they'll be throwing up, getting headches, and being in pain. Unlike them, since you were alone doing the right thing, you're free of pain and have nothing to worry about. You'll achieve more on your own then others ever will. Instead of going to parties and drinking, you should study. You'll be more successful and have no negative consequences coming towards you. If you hang out with people who are bad influences, you'll be wasting useful time and distancing yourself from being succesful. Other than risking the chances of you successing, you can get caught and go to jail for drunk driving, underage smoking, illegal drugs, and many other things. But if you hang out with good people who do what's right, you'll support each other and have good friends. You guys would be free of problems and consequences and not have to worry about anything in your life going wrong.

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."

"If we do what's right, we have no need to fear."
                        By: Evan Stephens

This quote means that when you do what you're suppose to do and don't disobey any rules there's no need for you to fear of any consequences. If you know you did the right thing, then you should only be proud and glad that you did. For example, if you're taking a test and you cheat, then you'll have to worry about being caught and knowing if you pass or failed the test. But if you study and take the test without cheating, then you're more than likely to get a good grade and you won't have anything to worry about being caught or getting in trouble of failing. When you do the right thing, you never have to worry about negative consequences occurring to you. Unlike others, who never do the right thing and always dow hat they're not suppose to, they're always constantly waorried about what might happen to them. Doing the right thing, makes your life easier and casuses you no stress or worries.

The 3 Questions

                           The 3 Questions
  1. Can people trust me to do what's right?
  2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
  3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
"If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail."
                            By: Lou Holtz

This quote means that if you answered yes to those 3 questions, there is no way you can fail at life. You should have people trust you to do the right thing. They shouldn't expect you to be the kind of person who alaways does what's wrongs and never obeys the rules. You should let people know and think that you're a responsible and mature person who can make the right decisions. You should also be committed to do your best in school, life, and everything that you do. Your future and the measurement of success will reflect on the effort that you put to get to where you are now. If you put little or no effort at all, your future won't be much of a success unlike someone who put a lot of effort. You should treat people the way you want them to be treated. No one wants to be teated with a rude attitude and no manners, so why should you treat them that way and expect total kindness in return? You can't expect someone to be generous to you when you treat them in a very rude way. If you give total kindness to someone, then you treat you that way too. You get what you give.

Physical Fitness

"Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of he mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."
                                   By: John F. Kennedy

This quote means that being physically active won't just help you have a healthy body but it will also help you have good mental health. It will help you live a good life and do what's right. It's not right to do drugs and drink alcohol because that affects your brain. As a result, it affects what you think and how you see things. It can cause you to live a bad life with negative consequences and no good in it. Physical fitness benefits the brain and helps you think better. For example, if you do drugs and drink alcohol, you become obsessed with it and to begin with, doing drugs is illegal. So you're already doing something wrong. Since it's hard to stop, you keep getting more of it and you're killing yourself both mentally and physically. You start to lose reasoning and do things knowing they're wrong. It's better to stay awqay from those things. They don't benefit you, you don't need them, and only bring bad things to your life. You're ruining your life. It's better to stay active and do physical activities. You'll be benefiting yourself both physically and emotionally. You will live a better life with it and without drugs and alcohol.

Vaddhoo Island in the Madives

                           Vaddhoo Island in the Madives

Vaddhoo Island is located in the Madives under the continent of India. It is also known as the heaven on Earth. It's population is very small compared to other islands, countries, and continents but I find that to be a good thing. It's popoualtion was 500 in the year of 2007. I like the fact that the population is small because then it doesn't feel overcrowded and it feels like a place where you can greet everyone in the streets. It has a sea known as The Sea of Stars that at night, it glows like if it's a reflection of the stars. During the night, marince microbes called phytoplankton are bioluminescent and emit the glow of blue. The sea along with others, also has some really cool animal life. I chose this island to visit because it looks like a really beautiful place to explore. The place where is located in, the Madives, also looks like a nice and calm place to stay in for a while, especially since it's far away from everything.

"Kindness is the essence of greatness'

"Kindness is the essence of greatness."
                     By: Joseph B. Wirthlin

This quote means the only way to live a great life and have greatness in your life is by being kind. Being kind and generous to everyone and everything isn't just having greatness in your life but it also makes you feel good about yourself. For example, even if you're the champion of a soccer game or a video game or whatever, that doesn't make you a good person if you're always cussing and being disrespectful to everyone. You might be a champion at that but at being a good person you're not because you don't have any kindness. But unlike someone who's kind to everyone and everything, they might not be a champion or be very good at a sport or video game but they're living a good life. They have kindness in their life and that leads them to living a life of greatness. Being disrespectful will cause you to live a life without good or greatness. Kindness will lead you to a good life. It's not good to be disrespectful or rude to anyone or anything. That will bring negative consequences to your life. But being kind, will do the opposite. It rewards you and makes you feel good about yourself.

Thanksgiving Week

                                       Thanksgiving Week

During Thanksgiving I just watched movies like Scream, Scream 2, Four Christmases, Orphan, etc. I didn't really have much to do but I was able to go to the Edwards Theaters with my friends and watched Creed, which was a really good movie. Thanksgiving day was a really boring day although I was able to hang out with my friend and walk around the park with him. Other than that, I went to my aunt's house and ate posole. It was pretty boring like every other family party but I did have fun with my cousin. Sadly, I wasn't able to go to Black Friday or go shopping at all. On various days, I also did my English and Health homework and did finish it. My mom, sister, brother, and I were planning on going to The Hollywood Christmas Parade yesterday but we weren't able to go so we totally missed it. I also watched 12 Wishes of Christmas, Criminal Minds, and one of my favorite shows, American Horror Story. Along with that, I also texted with my friend and that's pretty much it. My break was pretty boring like my life so there's nothing much to tell.

"If it is not right, do not do it; If it is not true, do not say it."

                 "If it is not right, do not do it;
if it is not true, do not say it."
                       By: Marcus Aurelius

This quote means that you should never do what's wrong if you know it's not right. You also shouldn't say what's wrong if you know it's not true. You should always say what's true and do what's right because that's what makes you a better person. Doing the opposite of that, makes you a bad person. When you do what's right and say what's true, you'll be rewarded. But if you do the opposite, you'll have negative consequences brought to you. It's never good to lie and do what's wrong. You might think it's right but it's not. Telling the truth and doing what's right might not sound good at the time but it will later on. And at least, you'll be honest and courageous to do what's right. For example, never lie.

Thanksgiving Day

                                              Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated in the US and Canada to give thanks for everything they're grateful for. The first Thanksgiving in the United States was on Plymoth Rock in Massachusetts in 1621. The pilgrims celebrated after harvest and surviving a long winter. Canada celebrates it on the second day of October and the US celebrates it on the fourth Thursday of November. English colonists known as Pilgrims celebrate thanksgiving as part of their religion. The traditional foods of Thanksgiving are: turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and stuffing.

12 things I'm thankful for:
  • Family
  • Education
  • Real Friends
  • One Direction and all my favorite artists
  • Life
  • Food
  • Health
  • Clothes
  • Fun
  • Waking up another day

"Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing."

"Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is                more important than winning or losing."
                        By: Chick Moorman

This quote means that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, it only matters if you do what's right, fair, and honorable. If you win then that's good and if you lose, well there's always next time but if you do those 3 things, it'll be like winning. You lost the game but you won at being a good person who did the right thing. Winning isn't always the most important thing and if you lose it's not that bad. If someone wins and doesn't do any of those 3 things, then it'll be like losing because you didn't do what's fair, what's right and what's honorable. You might've won the game but you didn't win at being a good person. You did the opposite of that. Losing and winning don't matter as long as you do those 3 things. You shouldn't let a game change who you are and cause you to not do the right thing. It's better to lose at a game but win at being a very good person.

"...These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity."

"...These are the 3 magic keys to living
                      your life with integrity."
                      By: W. Clement Stone

The 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity are: having the courage to say no, having the courage to face the truth, and doing the right thing because it's right. This quote means that in order to live a truthful life, you have to live by these rules. When you're in a situation that will bring you negative consequences to your lie, you need to be brave and say no. For example, if you're friends offer you to do drugs, you need to have the courage to say no, even if they're your friends. You also have to have the courage to face the truth because then your life will be based on lies and that won't do you any good. For example, if you break something in your house and your parents ask you, 'Who did it?', you need to have the courage to tell the truth and not lie. If you lie and blame it somebody else, you're making someone else pay for the consequences of your actions. You won't be able to live with that guilt. It's also not good to cover up for someone that did something bad. Regardless of whether they're your friends or siblings or people close to you, you have to tell the truth. Even though they're the ones who did something bad, you're gonna pay the consequences along with thme because you lied and covered up for them. It's always good to tell the truth and do the right thing for yourself. You also have to do the right thing in life because you'll be rewarded in good ways.

Veterans Day

                          Veterans Day
                                         November 11
1.    Veterans Day is a holiday in which we honor US veterans and victims of all wars.
2.    Veterans Day is on the anniversary of the end of World War I which is on November 11.
3.    The purpose of it is to honor all US veterans and victims of all wars.
4.    It’s important to honor them because those brave veterans are the ones fighting and dying for our country. We should respect and honor them to thank them for making our country the way it is now. They risked and gave up their lives to give us a chance to live in a good country.  It’s also important to respect the innocent victims that suffered and died in cruel ways for no reason. Many people lost loved ones and the least that we can do is respect and thank them.
5.    We can show honor and respect by spreading the word about how many veterans fought and won for our country. For those who have social media, they can post a nice paragraph, picture, video, collage, etc. and talk about our veterans and victims.
6.

7.    It interests me how people just decide to give up their lives and freedom to give us a chance to a better life in our country. I feel that they are brave and noble to make such a life-changing decision.

8.    I feel that Veterans Day did deserve to be a holiday the way it is now because many people get to know more about our veterans and victims and learn more about them. Many people don’t see the purpose of this holiday yet, but slowly they will a start to acknowledge it. Although our veterans do deserve better than just a day to honor, I think it’s nice to be able to honor, respect, and learn more about them. It’s hard thinking how someone can be so brave and noble to give up their life to give us a better chance at life in our country. You can ask about 10, 50, even 100 people if they would be willing to give up their life for our country and honestly, most of them wouldn’t. But these men did and I don’t know about everybody else but I’m very thankful for that decision. Sadly, thousands and maybe even millions of people have died in battles and wars but I believe that everyone should honor veterans. Without them fighting for us, who knows how our country would’ve been by now.

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:
but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
                       By: Proverbs 13:20

This quote means that you should always hang out with people who choose to do what's good. For example, if you hang out with people who always do their homework and choose a night of studying instead of partying, you have good friends that will make a good influence and company in your life. But if you hang out with people who choose to smoke and drink and steal, they'll bring negative consequences to your life. They'll slowly bring you down, keeping you away from what you want to accomplish. On the other hand, hanging out withe wise people will make your life happier and safer. They'll be the ones encouraging you to be successful and live a good, fun life without any risks and bad consequences. A group of people that always choose to do bad things, shouldn't have the chance of being successful and happy like the group of wise people. You have to make sure you hang out with right kind of people before they end up bringing you down. You might think that the group of fools are your friends but they're really not. When you hang out with people, you have to make sure whether they're a good or bad impact on your life. It's better to have 1-3 good friends in your life than 50 "friends" who only cause your life to be harder.

"The best recreation is to do good."

"The best recreation is to do good."
                          By: William Penn

This quote means that the only way to enjoy life is to do good. Doing the right thing always let's you have fun and enjoy everything in a safe way. It's good to do the right thing because it unknowingly rewards you unlike doing the wrong thing. That can bring you negative consequences into your life. Although you can doing the wrong thing can let you have all the fun you want, it might and it can but there will be consequences for that. If you do the right thing, you'll enjoy it even if you're not going to go to a party or hang out with your friends. Choosing to do the right thing makes you feel good and enjoy the choice you make. It can even make you enjoy life and feel good about it. I agree with this quote.

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."

    "Right is right, even if everyone is against it;
and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
                       By: William Penn

This quote means that you should always do the right thing, even if no one agrees with you or supports you. Just because no one does, it doesn't mean you have to do the wrong thing. Even if everyone agrees with you to do something wrong, you shouldn't do it. All the choices you make are going to affect you not everyone else. So every choice that you have, should be one the one that you chose according to you actions. For example, if you go to school where uniform is required and everyone tells you not to wear it, you should wear it because the consequences of not wearing it are going to affect you. But if you do the right thing and not listen to them and wear your uniform, you'll be rewarded unless those who decided not to. It's always good to do the right thing regardless of what others think of you. It isn't good to do something you know you shouldn't do, to impress people that aren't important and won't even matter to you. It's better for you to do the right thing and let people like you for the person that always does the right thing.

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often."

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for                 what you want now. Write down what you                          want most and see it often."
                           By: Peter Vidmar

This quote means that whatever you want most in life is what you should hold on to and not throw away for something that isn't going to last. For example, if what you want most in life is to go to college and have a good job, you shouldn't throw it away for to play with your friends or go to parties. You'll be risking the chances of you accomplishing your dreams and goals for something that isn't going to be worth it and won't matter to you later on. All the small goals that aren't that important right you, you should write them down and look at them everyday and know that those things won't help you reach what you really want. By choosing to do everything you should to reach your dreams, along the way you'll have all the fun you want as a reward and not risk the chances you throwing away your life dream. You might think that all the parties you want to go and all the fun you want to have with your friends will be worth it and important but they're not. Those things aren't helping you and aren't important. They're causing you to distance yourself from achieving your dreams. Later on, you'll start to notice that throwing away your dream for something so dumb like parties and drinking wasn't worth it. Once you have reached your dream/goal, you have a lot more time to yourself. That's when you can go to parties and have all the fun you want as long as you don't risk anything that you really want. Whatever you want most in life is the most important thing to hold on to because once it's gone, it will most likely be hard to get back.

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches."

"A good name is rather to be                                       chosen than great riches."
                           By:Proverbs 22:1

This quote means that having a good reputation is better than having a lot of money, luxury, houses, cars, etc. You can have all the money in the world but it won't mean anything if no one respects you and thinks good of you. It's better to be  have  people love you and respect you and be poor. For example, if someone has a really bad reputation with people talking bad about them, having all the money in the world, won't chase people's minds. All the money they have, won't mean anything because money can't buy people's respect and love. One night or one bad choice you make can affect you whole life and reputation. If you decide to steal, smoke, drink, or get in trouble with the law, you beginning to gain a bad reputation. It becomes even worse when you keep choosing to do bad things over and over again. Once you have that bad name, it's hard for people to think good of you because all you're doing is bad things and you're not doing any good things. Everyone thinks that doing all the bad things is better because it's easy, you think you have fun, and you think it's good for you but it's not. The right thing to do might be hard and not fun but it'll be worth it soon in life. It gives you a good name and it might get you all the things you think bad things get you but from doing the right thing. Having a good or bad name affects your life, so make sure your name affects your life in a good way. No one can make those choices for you or give you that good/bad name but yourself.

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life."

"A good name is better than anything                              you can achieve in this life."                 By: Coach K

This quote means that all the money and power you achieve doesn't mean anything if you're known for being a bad person who makes bad choices. It means a lot more to be known as a good person that does all the right choices. For example, if a bad person wins the lottery or if you have the most powerful job or whatever, it won't matter to people. They'll still disrespect you and not treat you as well as others because you'e not a good person. But unlike someone who's good and makes right choices, they have people's respect because they treat everyone with respect and treat them well. The way you are to others is far more important than all the money and power that you gain. No one can give you a bad or good name but yourself. Your actions are what gives you your name and it's better to have a good name than bad one. Like Coach K, he has a good name and he's gotten many compliments from many people saying what a great person he is. Aside from having many good comments about him, it has given him good rewards ion his life. For example, for being a good person towards his players and his friends, he has won over 1,000 basketball championships. It brought him a lot of success towards his career. Having a good name benefits your whole life and makes you feel good about yourself.

Right

"If your so-called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow."
                     By: Thomas S. Monson

This quote means that you should always do the right thing regardless of what others think. You should never something you know it's wrong just to impress others. Even though you'll be the only doing the right thing, you'll be rewarded unknowingly like good karma. You should be smart and brave enough to do the right thing regardless of what others will think of you. If people don't support yo doing the right thing and they're just encouraging you to do then wrong thing, then they're not really your friends. Real friends should be the ones that encourage you to do the right thing and help you make good decisions. No one should tell you what's the right and wrong thing to do, you should figure that out yourself and know how it will affect you. By doing the right hing, you'll impress others to do the same thing you're doing and stand up for themselves. You'll be a person that people look up to. Doing the right thing will always benefit you unlike doing the wrong thing. Although you think you're going to lose your friends by doing the right thing, it's worth it because you'll have something better in return than those "friends you lost".

"A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself"

"A CTR champion is a person who makes a                       great human out of himself."
                      By: Noemi Trigueros

This quote means that if you do the right thing you're a good person. Doing the wrong thing makes you a bad person. If you always do the right thing, you're always a champion at everything. It's always good to do the right thing. It benefits you in many ways and brings good rewards to your life. But,if you do the wrong thin, you're bringing negative consequences to your life. It's hard to do the right thing, especially when your friends don't agree with it but it'll benefit you unknowingly. You shouldn't do the wrong thing to impress others. It'll feel like you're doing the right thing but you're not. Eventually you'll regret your bad actions and wish you did the right thing. You should always do the right thing to impress and help yourself not others.
