Duties and Responsibilities: A speech pathologist assess, diagnose, treats, and helps to prevent communication and swallowing disorders. Their duties include:
- Identify treatment options
- Teach patients how to make sounds and improve their voices
- Help patients develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow
- Evaluate patient’s level of speech, language,or swallowing
- Counsel patients and families on how to cope with communication and swallowing disorders
- Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan
Salary: $73,400 per year
